Back.
I had stopped blogging for several reasons.
The first reason is that it’s easy to document tasks that are accomplished in less than a day. But it’s not so simple to present more complex stuff. I was learning as I worked and sometimes you need to have more mastery of a topic before you teach. I wasn’t there.
The second reason is that life was getting in the way of the farm. The pork co-op didn’t work out. There were family issues. I was traveling for work.
So I put the blog to bed.
Since then, I’ve worked from one side of the country to the other. I’ve played outdoors, fished, hunted, rode horses, prospected and generally had fun. I’ve learned a bit about shearing and trimming feet.
Mostly, I’ve been learning about people. That includes me.
And now I’m in a new mindset. I’m ready to do some new things.
Beautiful Nazareth Farms is done. I’m no longer building a sanctuary for me and mine. I have a new goal: work from the homestead full time. That’s going to mean growing things and raising things. It might also mean a retail business or two.
This Happy Homestead 2.0
I’m starting with 20 acres. The good news is that the land is almost paid off. It’s also gone up in value. The bad news is that it isn’t suitable for what I want to do.
So, I’m going to document selling the land, buying a different parcel and building infrastructure. The plan is not set in concrete. I may have to buy and sell several parcel to get what I want.
Feel free to join me for the ride.
Plus I’ll be posting the odd how-to now and then.
