I’ve been looking for a more efficient method to water the grape vines we’ve planted this year. We have 20 vines, 10 on terraces and 10 on top of the hill. We’ve been relying on oscillating sprinklers but it’s time to think about trellis irrigation.
Once again, let me state that I don’t know what I’m doing. Please don’t consider me an expert.
My goal was to water the vines and the immediate area around them. I’m planning on planting clover around the vines next year. Side note: there are several good things about having a cover crop around the vines. Clover is especially good since it’s a nitrogen fixer. Hopefully deer appreciate it more than the vines too! I also want the ability to target just the vine if need be.
I used 1/4″ poly pipe and little button sprinklers. I’ve read a few books and watched a few videos. Nothing really gave step by step instructions for doing this. This is my best effort at imitation of vineyard irrigation.
Surprisingly, the solution was very very cheap.
Here’s the video. My apologies for the wind, poor filming, etc.
